    PH and Northwood

Now both will be looking for head coaches as Billy Wyatt steps down at Northwood. I am not sure about fortunes at Saltville, but a good coach could turn PH around IMO. That school has the numbers to put athletes on the field and had a few kids who could play had they had decent coaching.

    Re: PH and Northwood

Someone could be very lucky to land Wyatt as a coach. Reading on another board they said he had lost control at Northwood to the parents. I have a lot of respect for him and his brother who was at Tazewell until last year. Northwood is a school who seems to have just taken a downward trend in their athlete cycle in all sports.

I cant believe they put the 10-2 regional runnersup as the best season when in 99 they lost to Pound in the state semis. I wonder if Bo Buchanon will take over the job being a product of Northwood, and has assisted there the last few years.

You'd have to figure that he'd be the frontrunner for the spot

    Stripes:

Pound beat Rural Retreat in the state semifinals in 1999, not Northwood

My bad. I thought for sure it was Northwood, but thinking back I you are right. I amend that comment then.

    Re: PH and Northwood

I went and checked the scores from the Northwood/Rural Retreat games that year. Northwood won the regular season matchup 19-14. Rural Retreat won the playoff game 21-14.

    Re: PH and Northwood

These past 5 years have really been something else when speaking of the resignation of long-time coaches in our region.

You can add John Battle to the list of open jobs with Witten officially resigning the other day, although its been expected for a while.
